Virechana ( Purgation )
It is a medicated therapy which removes Pitta toxins from the body that are accumulated in the liver and gallbladder.
Procedure of Virechana :
Virechanam treatment is carried out in pre-noon on an empty stomach. This time is called as Pitta Kalaa in Ayurveda. In the morning, after the full body massage and Sudeshan is over, the purgative medicine chosen by the doctor is given to the patient. The purgation happens till the Waste products (vitiated pitta) are eliminated through the lower gastrointestinal tract. Proper rest is advised after undergoing the Virechanam therapy.
How Does Virechana Work :
Snehana(unction) and Swedana(sudation) are adopted to loosen and mobilise the toxins, in an effort to eliminate toxins in the body. The special medicated drink taken in the morning will pull these loosened toxins out of the body through Virechanam, after being brought to Gastro-Intestinal Tract.
