Urovasti

Uro vasti is one of the part of Ayurveda panchakarma. The benefits of Uro vasti are enriches blood, maintain strong muscles and connective tissues at the heart area. This treatment is good for heart disease, muscular chest pain, asthma, respiratory problems etc.

Urovasti Treatment

The Uro in Sanskrit means chest while vasti or vasthi means retaining. Thus urovasti corresponds to a process wherein a herbal medicated oil is held over the chest for some time. The herbs are chosen carefully by the Ayurvedic practitioner after taking into account the nature and extent of vata dosha present in the person. These herbs are then boiled in vegetable oil to make the herbal concoction. The person lies down on the back while a dam is created on the chest through the wheat or black gram flour dough that is glued to the skin by applying water. The herbal concoction is then poured into it while still warm. This medicated oil has herbs’ extract that reaches deep in the tissue and corrects the vatavikaar or imbalance. As the oil cools, it is drained and more warm oil is poured in. This process may be continued for no less than 30 minutes.
